SWEET ROAD
By Debra Oswald
Directed by Gaye Gay
Sweet Road is an Australian play by award-winning playwright and scriptwriter, Debra Oswald, who is probably best known as the author of the TV series Offspring and The Secret Life Of Us.Sweet Road shows us a ‘slice of life’ about a collection of diverse characters, as they set off on road trips through the Australian outback. Some of the travellers are trying blindly to find their destinations, while others are trying to find a highway to anywhere. Full of vitality and good humour, the dialogue and action is entertaining and dramatic, sometimes poignant, ultimately moving and uplifting, as it reflects the great variety of the Australian landscape, culture and character.

CROWN MATRIMONIAL
By Royce Ryton
Directed by Kate Peters
The hinge of the play is Edward V111’s determination to marry a divorced woman, his conviction that without her he could not do his job (bringing the monarchy into the twentieth century), and his readiness to sacrifice his kingship and his family, especially his brother, the diffident and stammering young man who must succeed him. You’ll find theatrical excitement in this conflict of love and duty in which unexpected strengths and weaknesses are discovered. This is a gripping and thought-provoking play, shot through with flashes of dry humour. Its championship of decorum, duty and stiff upper lip seems astonishingly attractive.

THE KINGFISHER
By William Douglas Home
Directed by Nathan Schulz
With echoes of P.G Wodehouse, this effervescent romantic comedy takes a light-hearted look at the lives and loves of three fascinating characters. As he peruses The Times obituaries, famous writer Cecil Warbton makes a discovery that has him whistling in the bath! At last, the dull Reggie Townsend has died, widowing the only woman that Cecil truly loved... and lost. With only one thing on his mind – matrimony – he arranges to meet Evelyn under the same tree in his garden where he kissed her years earlier. A comedy of manners and a study of concealed emotions... and loves of three fascinating characters. This delightful comedy first starred Rex Harrison and Claudette Colbert on Broadway.

BILLY LIAR
By Keith Waterhouse & Willis Hall
Directed by Dawn China
Set in the early 1960s, Billy Liar is unavoidably a play of its time. Yet, it’s also a play for our time, depicting the hyperactive imagination of a young man who is prone to inventing and telling lies to avoid his humdrum Northern family and job as a clerk in a funeral home. He dreams of life in the big city as a scriptwriter to “Danny Boon”, yet in reality his lies have got him engaged to three different girls. For Billy, an energetic mind makes his life tolerable but well-nigh intolerable for all around him. Billy Liar is black comedy at its best, and who could forget the 1963 film starring Tom Courteney and Julie Christie.

OBSESSION
Written by Kellie Silver
Directed by Kellie Silver
When Lily and Tom inherit an old house, they are over the moon about having a place to raise their baby when it is born. However, as they set about restoring the dilapidated family home to its former glory, they begin to wonder if the house was more of a curse than a gift. With muddy water, shocking electricity problems, pest infections, foundation issues and meddling family members, the couple quickly begin to second-guess their decision to take on the “renovators delight”.When Lily stumbles upon a family heirloom with a dark history she finds herself obsessed with the item and seeks to uncover the troubled secrets in her family’s past. As she starts getting in too deep Tom soon discovers that living in a house that is falling down around them is the least of their worries…Obsession is an amusingly haunting story about a perfect couple, their unusual families and a past that will not let go.
